I often read Michael J. Totten's blog. I find his articles very insightful, and you will notice that on the right of this page there is a standing link to his blog listed under "My Daily Reads". When I started reading his blog he was currently in Lebanon. He offered amazing glimpses of what life there must be like for the "locals". As of late, he is in Iraq doing some consulting work, but still offering valuable insight into the life of the "locals".

No. The streets of London.

A controlled explosion was carried out on the car, packed with 60 litres of petrol, gas cylinders and nails, in Haymarket, near Piccadilly Circus.

Who says it can't come home? This is straight out of places were Islamists do their deadliest work.

Tom Donnelly has a must read at the Weekly Standard about the NYT's reporting of success in Iraq on one page, and their call for immediate withdrawal on another.

Spread across the top two-thirds of the front page is John Burns' latest dispatch from Iraq. The subject is the U.S. campaign to win back the city of Ramadi and al Anbar province from al Qeada and other Sunni extremists.

You've all heard the story about the famous and important politician who won't meet with the parent whose child died in Iraq. Well, this is one of those stories, but the parent is male, not female; and the politicians are democrats, not republican. Read the story of the father who believes a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq would mean that his son had died in vain.

This is a truly touching story out of Navato, in Marin County California on the 21st. A hero's welcome and big thank you awaited to veterans returning from Iraq, and was lead by a Middle School marching band, and a cub scout pack. I am sure there were many eyes that weren't dry that day. Read all about it here.

A Troop Needs Us!

It was brought to my attention today that a soldier needs us. This is a time when we can all give something back to one of the men who serves to protect us.

Chris Cooper, Jr is currently stationed in Iraq. His father passed away from cancer last month. The combination of loss of income, medical bills and funeral expenses has practically wiped the family's finances out. Cooper had to take out a loan against his military pay to help pay for the funeral and other bills.

There is more information.

As many of you know, I have found the main stream media far to biased in the wrong direction and completely unworthy of trust. That was one of the main reasons I began reading blogs. Milblogs became my favorite as what better way to gain knowledge about our men and women at war than from them.

Memorial Day is a time to remember those who served our country. Some gave a lot, and others gave all. All of them gave more than I was capable of giving. To all veterans I am grateful. I am grateful for their sacrifices, and those that their families have made, that have enabled me to be free. I am grateful for the sacrifices that have been made and are still being made to sustain my freedom and the freedom of the others in this great land.

MJT: Why do you work with Americans?

Hammer: When I was 14 years old all I liked..
